Description

Modified-live virus for the vaccination of healthy newborn calves and pregnant cows as an aid in preventing diarrhea (scours) caused by Bovine Rotavirus and Bovine Coronavirus. Contains penicillin and streptomycin as preservatives.

Cow vaccination stimulates maternal antibodies, which are then transferred to nursing calves via colostrum.

Dosage: For active immunization, rehydrate and administer Calf Guard orally, 3 ml to newborn calves, as soon as possible after birth (before nursing). For passive protection of calves, vaccinate cows in last quarter of pregnancy with two 3 ml intramuscular vaccinations 3-6 weeks apart; ideally the second dose should be within 30 days prior to calving. Cows should be revaccinated with 2 doses during each subsequent pregnancy. 21 day slaughter withdrawal.

Anaphylactoid reactions may occur. Antidote : Epinephrine.

U.S. Lic. No. 190.
